Abu Dis, Beit Faji, Al Ezariya , Wadi NarTuesday, March 1, 2005, AMObservers: Michaela R. , Yael l.-J. (reporting)Abu Dis6:20 a.m. Arrival at the Pishpash. No borderpolice around. The Palestinians were passing either through the garden of the monastery or climbing besides the wall.6:30 a.m. We returned to the street to Jerusalem. There a jeep had already selected 7 Palestinians, sending them to the bus stop near the round about. One driver of one of the minibussses told us, that one of his passengers was taken out and pushed by one border policeman. The driver had asked the soldier to identify himself, but he refused. All the identity cards of the men who got stopped on their way to Jerusalem – on a whole 24 – were taken and the men sent to A-zaim (we call it “the Fata Morgana”). 7:00 Return to Pishpash. We wanted to check if there would take place such a chaos as described in one reports of last week. We found first more Palestinians crossing and than less after a jeep came and two borderpolicemen started random checking. One was friendly and allowed arguing. When another jeep stopped for a moment to greet the comrades, two women were using the situation and instead of going back left on the street to the gasolin station. 7:45 to 8:00 a.m. Beit Faji.In Beit Faji we found 14 men of those who got stopped in the street to Jerusalem . They were waiting for the border police who had promised to return their identification cards or passports. Some said they were waiting since 6 :00 a.m. Michaela immediatly called a senior officer and 5 minutes later the jeep came giving back the documents, but sending them home. 8:15 Al Ezariya6 to 7 cabs , coming from Al Ezariya were waiting before the flying checkpoint. One cab on the way to the town got stopped. 2 minutes after our arrival all the cabs could go. Traffic flew.8:45 a.m. Wadi Nar When we were arriving we found one man detained. Some borderpolicemen were intensely talking with each other. 10 cars in each direction were wairing. After a short while those who were working let most of the cars pass. Those very few which got stopped could leave after a few minutes. The detained man got bodychecked and was not yet released when we left.
