including Sheikh Saed
Sheikh Saed Wednesday, 13.06.2007, PMWatchers: Daniela G., Ronit B., Lea E. (reporting)14:50 – A rolling CP on the way to the permanent one. By the time we park, the 20 or so young men (coming back from work) are sent off. When they reach the permanent CP, their ID’s are given back to them. Besides 2 BP in a jeep, 6 more around the shack and 2 additional security service men. One man alone is trying to go through to the Jerusalem side. He is held up, his permit checked by almost all those around because it supposedly lacks something and may be forged. 15 minutes later the officer arrives, he too scrutinizes the document and the man is allowed to go on his way. The officer wishes to talk to us, is very pleasant and explains that forgeries are in abundance (costing about 1000 NIS each) and when the soldiers suspect something is a miss they are instructed to call him.
