Sheikh Saed, Abu-Did, Zeitim CP, AnataMonday, 20.11.2006, PMObservers: Judy A., Noa A.Y. (reporter)Sheikh Saed: 15:40 – the organization “City of people” (Ir Amim) organized a tour of representatives of consulates to see what the situation is in the neighborhood, guided by Hillel Baradin. Near the grocery store we met the representative of the American Consulate, and she told us that she tours all through Jerusalem area and reports to her superiors. We set by the grocery store with her and with the Muchtar (head of community) of Jabel Mukaber (who gave us his phone number – His name is Hussein: 052-3473646). Three students from El Kuds University arrived, and they told us that they walk on foot every day seven kilometers on each direction. The old Pishpash: There are soldiers only.On the way uphill towards the Pishpash we saw a clear area. It looks like a house was demolished and the area was straightened. But the heap of stones did not seem big enough. We do not remember what was there before.Zeitim CP – About six people are waiting by the carousels in order to enter the checkpoint from the east. We peeped at the shed of the person responsible for those carousels, and did not see anyone. We approached the soldier who was watching at the entrance from our side, and called through the loudspeakers to the soldier to get to his place. As we were leaving we met the commander of the checkpoint (so we were told) – a blue policeman. When we told him that there was none at the shed he immediately retaliated by “how do you know it, and who are you to talk with…” etc. The taxi drivers claimed that he actually is o.k. Everything is relative. The way to Anata – We drove on the road that runs under the main road. It seems that there are soldiers there regularly. Anata The traffic here is light, and it flows almost without stopping. Here and there the soldier stops some car.
