One of the soldiers tells us that this CiP is opened for Palestinians for humanitariancases only and for merchants. Transfer of goods (back-to-back) now takes place in Salem. Israelis are not allowed to go in. At the gate we see an Israeli car on its way in and it is delayed for clarifications.Rihan, 07:10 – 8:40 – About 10 meters before the permanent CP, there is a temporary CP manned by soldiers. This is reinforcement for the period of the disengagement. They inspect each car entering from the direction of the West Bank. At the regular CP all cars with yellow plates are inspected carefully and most of them are sent back to Israel.An Arab mini-bus with passengers goes, following an inspection, into the West Bank. From the direction of the West Bank three Palestinian cars arrive, and the drivers go through the usual inspection (the ‘dance’ of lifting the shirt and rolling up the pants). One car was sent back.The car park area on the Palestinian side is completely empty, and only a few cars arrive from the direction of the West Bank. The CP commander doesn’t know the reason for this, but passengers tell us that the exits of some villages were blocked this morning with rocks.Today we weren’t allowed to go to the Palestinian side of the CP.Farmers, merchants and residents of the seam-line zone arrive by foot from the West Bank, and go through the inspection post swiftly. In special cases people can enter only by a list provided by the DCO.People wishing to cross the CP for the purpose of a visit are not allowed to do so, even if they have a valid passage permit.Three residents of Kapeen who entered Israel without permits and want to return home, are detained in the pen and are released after about 15 minutes.An Israeli Arab, a resident of Tamra in the Galilee, was told by the Jenin police that his stolen tractor was located in the West Bank. He can’t go in, due to the disengagement. He called the Salem police for help but nothing could be done until the completion of the disengagement.
