Jalama, Shaked, Rihan, Thursday, 14.4.05,a.m. Observers: Shifra G. , Lea R. (reporting) Jalama checkpoint 6:00- 6:30 The soldiers are courteous, but wouldn’t let us go to the waiting shed. Construction works continues on site.The Palestinians say that the checkpoint was opened at 6:00 . We saw , from a distance, that workers were waiting in the shed. Workers, especially women, smiled at us as they were coming out of the ‘sleeve’. It is hard to understand where do they get the energy to smile. Shaked gate, 7:20 – 7:40 As we arrived, we saw a military Jeep retreating from the closed gate. Some school children were waiting in front of the closed gate, while many others were on their way there. The kids said that the gate would open at 7:45, but the soldiers came back earlier and opened it. After verging that there were no more children on the way, the gate was closed at 7:40. Rihan checkpoint 7:50 – 9:15 There are very few vehicles or pedestrians wishing to go through.Four detainees, we don’t know as to what is the reason for the detention. Two of them were freed shortly after we came, and the other two stayed in the pen.Construction work continues on site.
