This apparently will continue till the end of the elections on Wednesday. There were two soldiers observing – one checking papers. People with green or orange I.D.’s without permits were sent back. A man wanting to enter Jerusalem – for “family reunion” -(ichud mishpachot”), – his wife is in Jerusalem, and he said he teaches in Jerusalem – was refused entry because his permit was no longer valid – it had run out the day before and he was to have taken it today. We called Elisha from the D.C.O who immediately sent the commander who dealt with the issue and the man was allowed to pass through on condition he obtain the updated permit. Eli G. also appeared and we brought up the incident that occurred on the previous Friday – the verbal violence of the soldiers towards the Palestinians at the checkpoint near the still unfinished terminal at Azzayim.We crossed over to the other side of the wall and took a transit to the new Terminal. Here there were four detainees, without permits – they were released after about half an hour.4.45 p.m. We then continued to Wadi Nar – a long queue of traffic in the direction of Bethlehem, which moved slowly but steadily – often without being checked. There were 9 detainees who were released after half an hour.
