Bethlehem vicinity, Thursday, 19.7.07, AMWatchers: Ruth E., Aviva W., Nora B., Rachel, Rama Y. (reporting)06:50, Bethlehem CP: Four checking posts were open; lines were quite short. But, we were told, there was quite a crowding on the other side, and people came out angry and humiliated. Later on the pressure grew up at our side too, when one checking post was closed, but quite soon it reopened, and things got better. And once again – there should be in this CP a separate line for women, children and the elderly. 07:50, Ezyon DCL: Less than fifty persons. Numbers were distributed in time. At least seven men less than 25-year-old hang around. And as usual, we heard rumors of youngsters under that age who did receive magnetic cards.08:30, Nebi Yunis: Here we learned something new: one of the men to whom we handed a voucher for traffic fine told us that he was an air-conditioning technician, working for a company stationed in Jerusalem, and he would not be able to have a magnetic card until he is forty-years-old (he is “lucky”, and has only six months to go…) as he is defined as a “service worker” – the age limitation of 25 is only for construction and agricultural workers.
