Bethlehem vicinity, Thursday, 22.2.07Observers: Aviva W., Rama Y. (reporting)06:30, Bethlehem CP: When we arrived, there were quite many people in front the CP, waiting for transportation. Apparently, this was one of those rare miraculous mornings, when the CP had opened in time, enough checking posts were functioning, soldiers did their work, and passage was smooth.A man approached us about a friend of his: The man has a sick son aged eight. He has a special permit to take the child once a week for treatment in Hadassah Ein Karem Hospital in Jerusalem. He is looking for work, and so entered Jerusalem “illegally” for an interview with the employer of his friend, was apprehended, and his weekly permit was confiscated. His wife cannot enter Jerusalem. Later we talked with him. Sunday, he is going to Ezyon DCL to look for his permit. We’ll keep in touch with him for follow up.07:00, Al Nashash: The road is open, and at the entrance there is notice warning Israeli citizens that they are entering Palestine. But there is a yellow gate, open for the time being, a reminder that the road can be blocked any minute.07:40, Ezyon DCL: Construction works are on, and an improvised shed was added. By 08:00, about dozen people arrived, all looking for permits. There is a notice as to what Thursdays there is no policeman at the DCL.
