Khalet a-Daba’ - life is lived in constant fear, who will come and when to hurt and be cruel
A shift to Khalet a-Daba’
We continued to Nabil’s grocery store at the Zif junction to purchase food and other products for our friends in Khalet a-Daba’, about 4 km from A-Tuwani. Jaber Dababsa welcomes us as always. The village is located between settlements and outposts which are multiplying. The settlers came to the village, burned down a house, destroyed solar panels and injured a number of residents who needed treatment at the Yatta Hospital.
The community in Khalet a-Daba’ is cohesive and does as much as they can to rehabilitate the village. One must look at the photo of an inscription on one of the houses so as to see the spirit of the local people.
Jaber tells about the daily arrivals of the army, who show their presence and leave.
A week ago, several vehicles entered the village, settlers that Jaber saw for the first time. One of them, carrying a long weapon, got out of the jeep, approached Jaber’s face and cursed (common curses) and shouted at him not to take pictures.
The life of the Palestinians is one of constant fear, who will be the next settler to come, to hurt them and practice his cruelty on them.
We left clothes and games and the food package to be distributed.
This is the occupation.
