| Morning

Pedestrians and traffic moved quickly in both in E-Ram and in Qalandya. It seems that people who do not have a chance to get through do not try. Quite a few people commented in Qalandya on how easy it was to-day, and a couple of them made point that it is not the same in the afternoon. When we came to E-Ram at 6.30 there were about 15 detainees who told us that they were caught at 4a.m. at Anata on their way form their work in Ramallah and were going home to Hebron. They did not have permits but preferred to take a risk than to take a big detour. A couple of minutes after we came, the commander of the Checkpoint began returning their IDs and within 20 minutes the check-up was over and they all left.On our way back from Qalandya, we met a driver of a transit who told us that he has been without an ID for a month. He tampered with the engine of the car so that it wouldn’t be confiscated, and he thought that as revenge the officer took his Id. The officer claimed that he left it in the car but the driver did not find it. We tried to call the Moked – it was busy but we left the card with the driver and also the number we were given to call for lost IDs.
