4 BP at the roundabout near the gasoline station on the way to Abu Dis. Some men (not all) on their way to Jerusalem got stopped for a document check. They sent back, even those with permits, while at the same time car traffic to Jerusalem was flowing. The soldiers said there would be a curfew. A BP jeep arrived, and said it would be a full closure. The commander of Jerusalem’s BP whom we called said that nonetheless, people with permits could pass, but nothing changed. We called him again, and now he said that there would indeed be full closure. When we pointed out that the streets were full of people, he answered “It’s not OK.”. an Arab women from a house nearby complained that the soldiers at the roundabout had been singing and making all kind of noise all night. At Abu Dis all again completely changed. The lower wall over which people were climbing all winter got smashed . Behind it’s ruins were put the usual big concret blocks. Some very athletic young men were climbing over these blocks too, but most people changed to the new passage. The times of opening and closing closing of the new gate reported yesterday were not right, as at 9am the gate was open, and no BPs. The new gate disturbs the noble silence of the villa neighborhood up there. Service cars are on both sides of the wall.Wadi Nar. No checking on the way there. Long queues of cars from Bethlehem and Abu Dis waiting. One BP soldier was sitting in the tower, his gun directed on the queue from Bethlehem, two others were checking slowly. A Muslim women asked us for help. She had to bring her sick husband to hospital, and he was sitting in a taxi in very bad shape. When we asked, the soldier said: “I’m human, too”, and checked that taxi out of line.
