This checkpoint is situated at a
crossroad, which leads west to the village of Deir Ballut, north to
Mas’ha, and east to the settlements Peduel and Aley Zahav. The road
to the village is blocked, and cars move through the fields in
order to arrive at the other side of the blocked road. The
checkpoint has been there since 1991, but the checking only started
a few months ago.

Once the checkpoint opened, the movement was swift and a few
minutes later the place looked pretty deserted. At this time of
year, there are hardly any pedestrians, it seems. Permits are not
needed. A sewing workshop owned by Israelis from operates in Dir
Balut and provides work for a number of the local women. The
checkpoint is open until 20:00. After that — no one passes, not
even emergency cases. The soldiers at the checkpoint were surprised
by our visit, but did not prevent us from
operating.
