We were told to stand beyond the concrete barriers and were greeted with hostile outbursts by the BP who were patrolling in a jeep . Taxis and trucks were stopped arbitrarily but pedestrians were allowed to pass freely . In general, traffic flowed freely although there was little movement from Bethlehem towards Jerusalem . It was interesting to note that no transport vehicles ( the white vans ) came anywhere near the checkpoint.
