An apartment at the top of a building
on the left side of the street, not far from the checkpoint, was
taken over by the army a few days ago. The windows have been filled
in with bricks, leaving only small openings for observation
purposes. Just one other apartment in the building is inhabited. We
were told by neighbors that the local children are too scared to
play outside. According to the owners, soldiers are using the yards
of a private home and a physician’s practice in order to get to the
fence and back every two to three hours. A local woman told us that
on the day after the 2 terrorist attacks in Jerusalem she passed 12
ID checks (!!) on her way the northern end of Qalandya to Beit
Hanina.
