Ar Ram, Qalandiya, Tuesday, 14 February 2006 a.m.Observers: Nurit N, Mor BI (reporting)Ar Ram 6:50 There were two lanes in operation for checking which took place relatively quickly. Despite this, there were some 50 cars in line. The pedestrian line was rapid and people scarcely had to wait.Qalandiya 7:05: The pedestrians at the checkpoint moved quickly and there were no long lines. We continued to the vehicular checkpoint and there also, there was almost no line. There was definitely an improvement. After 15 minutes, a line of cars built up and the soldiers opened an additional lane for inspection of vehicles heading to Jerusalem. We met with taxi drivers who showed us confiscation orders for the purpose of expanding the security passage at Atarot, which the soldiers distributed a few days ago. The drivers and we could not discern from the papers where the location was of the areas to be confiscated and it was not at all clear if the orders even reached the proper people. The possibility to contest the order is only until 16.02.06 — another two days, but that right is only for the property owners. On our way back to the pedestrian checkpoint: Despite the crowds of people, the traffic flowed. As usual, we heard shouting via the loud speaker system. However, because of the exagerated use of the system, it was impossible to understand what inspection lanes they were referring. No one knew to whom the instructions were directed and the soldiers just continued shouting the same thing again and again.8:05 Ar Ram We waited in line for about 20 minutes in order to cross through the checkpoing.
