Qalqiliya checkpoint, Tuesday 26.6.07 AM Observers: Ruti C., Elinoar b. (reporting)06:15-06:35 Unlike last week, today there was no queuing-up and vehicle on both sides passed freely without being checked.Today again the border-policeman in charge refused to let us approach the checkpoint and instructed us to stand behind the red sign delimiting the checkpoint. When we tried to argue he handed me his ID “so that I should complain”. As there was nothing much to see anyway, we didn’t think we should run the risk of being arrested. We gave up.

    • Qalqilya is surrounded on all sides by the separation barrier. The only exit from the city is in the east of the city on the road that leaves the city in an easterly direction. This is where the checkpoint was located. When the checkpoint was active until 2009 our shifts watched long queues of cars being inspected at the only exit from the city to the West Bank. The checkpoint was canceled, but there is a military presence at the entrance to the city.
