| Morning

Qalqiliya
7:30 – 10-30
On the first morning of Id el Adhah, The Sacrifice Holiday, most of the inhabitants of Tulkarm and Nablus stayed at home. The West bank seemed sleepy. The roads were empty. Few went through the checkpoints. We found no changes to the army regulations regarding the conditions of passage through the various checkpoints. The soldiers were updated by their commanders that from lunchtime onwards many families will be going to visit their relatives.

In our opinion, one could skip the morning shifts of Machsomwatch during the 4 days of the holiday, or at least on the first day of the holiday.

    • Qalqilya is surrounded on all sides by the separation barrier. The only exit from the city is in the east of the city on the road that leaves the city in an easterly direction. This is where the checkpoint was located. When the checkpoint was active until 2009 our shifts watched long queues of cars being inspected at the only exit from the city to the West Bank. The checkpoint was canceled, but there is a military presence at the entrance to the city.
