Samra: In the Shadow of the Heat and the Outpost
Yesterday was very, very hot again. It is difficult to be outside, as well as inside. Most family members have moved to their homes in Tubas. However, two members from each family remained to manage the place, mainly to herd the sheep.
Two additional volunteers arrived to accompany the shepherds, while we remained in the residential area. The entire day was at our disposal, and there was much work to be done. We had a cleaning project. Quite literally. Since there were no children to engage in activities, we decided to spend the day cleaning.
At some point in the morning, Uri, the settler from the outpost above, arrived, made his rounds through the community, and left.
Later, we prepared lunch for everyone present. The maklouba that we worked hard on at home turned out to be not quite to the diners’ taste. We stand no chance against the authentic source…
At 15:00, we decided to head home. The heat, with all due respect to the fans, in the intense heat they merely circulate the hot air, which, as it turns out, is not much better.
In two days, the khutba ceremony (engagement) will take place for the son and daughter of the two families, and everyone is currently busy preparing for the event. Around 1,000 guests are expected to arrive at the event hall in Tubas to receive cold, sweet juice and celebrate the new couple in the making.
The gap between the shift itself on-site and writing this report allows external events to intrude into the report. This time, it is the horrific incident in the village of Tell, which casts a shadow over everything that will happen from now on, precisely according to the script of this reign of madness. And as for us, where are we heading?
