Shekh Saedmonday,26.06.2006, AMAnath T. Maya B.(reporting)06:30 – we set out for Shekh Saed, as we did for the last month. The CP is full of BP on one side and many Palestiniens on the hill oposite. It seems uneventful at first. But then a 4×4 of the BP arrives, and the action starts. Policemen running down into the wadi, four shots, a police ambulance is there within minutes, two people are shoved inside, and the rumors begin. A lot of palestiniens watched the entire incident from the top of the hill. We are told by some that two men were shot dead. Others claim it is just an exercise of an incident, which judging by the speed and lack of panic, seems more likely. We are not aloud to get near where it happened. We try to call the spokesman of the Jerusalem fence, the DCO and the army spokesman. Nobody seems to have heard about it. A very cultured lawyer , by the name of Muhamad Alian, told us that this is a daily war zone. We see a few smoke grenades being fired in the direction of the crowd, and are told that many have been detained that morning , from 04:00 AM and only released when we arrived.Women with the usual packs, this time of grapes, are denied entry. E. from the DCO arrives, but does not give us much of an explanation either. The situation is unclear untill 09:00 AM, when we are told on our way out that no one was hurt. We realize that our previous assumption was right, it was a maneuver. We spent the entire shift there, and did not get to Abu-Dis or The Container.We keep hearing about the only option to enter Jerusaem through the Zeitim CP. No policman seems to be perterbed by the distance or difficulty to get there .
