Maqam Abu Isma’il

Abi Isma’il is Abraham, father of Isaac and Ishmael. In Israeli maps, it is erroneously called Maqan A-Nnebi Isma’il.

The Maqam with its high dome and two rooms is caged inside the nature reserve of Nabi Isma’il, which contains ancient Atlantic terebinth trees. The site is close to the settlement of Beracha and the outpost Sneh Yaacov. In its proximity is a spring called En Makhana which the settler-colonists have turned into their own water source and dipping pool, out of bounds for Palestinians.
