06:45  'Azzun 'Atma

About 60 people on line.  One of them says the checkpoint opened at 05:00.  Inspection is quick.  People are asked to lift their shirts.  Bags are opened and checked.  One of those inspected comes out and says that they’re treated like animals.

The line doesn’t get shorter because additional people keep arriving.

When we left there were still about 60 people waiting in line to enter Israel to work.

07:30  Tapuach junction

No cars in line.  No soldiers at the checkpoint other than three in the observation tower.

We drove on to Huwwara.

07:40  Huwwara

The checkpoint isn’t operating, no soldiers on site other than in the observation tower, like at Tapuach junction.

07:45  Awarta

Empty.  There were many army jeeps on the road, and two huge army trucks.

07:50  Beit Furiq

It’s also empty here.

There’s a flying checkpoint at the turnoff from Huwwara to Yitzhar.

There’s also a flying checkpoint at Jit junction.

09:25  Eliyahu gate

No traffic.  A sole Palestinian car enters Israel.

To sum up – After the murders in Itamar two days ago we thought things would be more tense but were presently surprised.  Overall, it was very quiet.
