Reihan, Shaked, Wed 29.6.11, Morning
08:45 - 10:00 Shaked-Tura checkpoint
A few people cross over. Y. arrived in his yellow van. For six months now he has owned this vehicle but it is not yet registered on the computer. He is a resident of the Seam Line zone, who makes a living by driving this van. He crosses the checkpoint about 6 times a day, and each time he has to rely on the good will of the soldiers to let him cross, or not.
In the meantime the person in charge at the DCO has been replaced and Y. is unable to get hold of the new person. Finally the soldiers called him to drive through.
Another person, a resident of the West Bank and a store owner in East Barta'a at the Seam Line zone, arrived in his car and parked on the other side of the fence and crossed over walking. This person requested a passage permit for the Reihan-Barta'a checkpoint. But he was given one for the Shaked-Tura checkpoint and for months now, his request falls on deaf ears.
We drove him to the Reihan-Barta'a checkpoint where he can get a taxi to East Barta'a. This person is forced to hitch-hike daily.
10:15 - 11:15 Reihan-Barta'a checkpoint
Seven cars waited for inspection. The Palestinian car park is filled to the rim, who ever arrive enters the the terminal.
Inspection of both vehicles and pedestrians was swift and uneventful.
