06:45 Azzun Atma CP: The line of people waiting to cross wasn’t long, and the wait time was reasonable (we checked). But many laborers waited outside for contractors who hadn’t yet arrived.
The checkpoint commander came over to speak with us, on his own initiative. No, he hadn’t really heard of the organization. Strange. It was a good talk. We gave him information and a calling card. We were glad he was willing to listen.
07:30 Za’tara/Tapuach CP: A long line of cars, but they don’t have to stop. There are soldiers at the checkpoint but no inspections.
07:55 Beita: The market area is bustling with merchants and customers – many more than in the past. Perhaps because it’s Thursday. All the roads are open.
08:20 Huwwara CP: A command car stands in front of the checkpoint. A soldier walked around observing the traffic but no cars were stopped. People crossed through the checkpoint without problems.
Beit Furik: No soldiers on site, all the roads were open, including the road to Beit Dajan.
We didn’t run into any soldiers on our way back either, nor delays or other annoyances.
