The festival of spring flowering, “Tubi-Shvat”, has arrived but there is still no blossom around Nablus. This is not because of the Occupation but because this year will be a leap-year in the Jewish calender.
06.30 Azzun Atma
This time also no Palestinians were waiting at the checkpoint. The artillery troops there were apparently efficient and quickly transferred all the arrivals. The car-park adjoining the checkpoint was full. On the far side of the road tens of workers stooped around bonfires and waited for their transport. They said that for several days the checkpoint “has been good” – some consolation . . .
One could see from the road that the construction of the wall is progressing.
The Shomron Crossing : there were no policemen at the exit from Israel
07.00 Za’atara (Tapuah)
A guard-post has been added near the hitchhikers station on the road to the (Jordan) valley. The checkpoint was not manned, but next to the empty positions noticable works were in progress; their purpose was not clear.
TheYitzar/Burin checkpoints were not manned.
Awarta : the yellow restraining bar obstructed the passageway as usual
07.35 Beit Furik : the checkpoint was empty of army presence. On the hill an army vehicle observed the Madison axis.
07.45 Huwwara : the checkpoint was not manned. A soldier was guarding the road leading up to (the settlement) Bracha.
At the Yitzhar/ Tapuah : an army vehicle was parked in the patch adjoining Huwwara
Za’atara/ Tapuach : there were no inspections at the inspection stations.
At The Shomron crossing the traffic was flowing.
