| Morning

All the gates to the villages along Route 5 on the way to the Jordan Valley were closed.  In Yatma, which is always closed, the gate was halfway open, and in Marda, Jamain, and other unknown places, the gates were closed.

07:00 – 16:00 – Protective presence in Al Farisiya

We were on duty in the Jordan Valley, relatively many volunteers. Divided into different places. Most of them for grazing.

At that time, there was a military exercise in the fields of one of the shepherds and it was impossible to reach the field.

The area is arid. Nothing grows and everything has already been eaten. In fact, the pasturage is a kind of motion lesson for the sheep. They must move constantly.

The bigger children are in school, the younger ones are with me at home, and the grandmother works all the time and never rests.

We decided to give her a special day, to show her gratitude.
To me, she is simply an example of an unconscious Buddhist person. She is constantly working: In the morning she tends to the oven, then she makes cheese, cleans, and who knows what else in between.  Then she washes the dishes.  She does all this while squatting on the ground and all her body hurts. I found a hand massage device in one of the packages that came that consists of two balls and a rope for giving yourself a back massage.
We decorated a room to perfection, planning to bless her, sing to her…but she simply didn’t cooperate. She wasn’t ready to come. She said she was sick. She is warm. Halas. I asked the children who would like to party instead, and they came.  We built houses from Lego blocks, dressed up as animals, ate cookies and we were happy.

On Friday I attended a demonstration with “We Stand Together” at Shaar Hanegev. It was reported there that in the southern part of the Jordan Valley the settlers have succeeded in evicting all the Bedouins who live in the open areas.

    • Al-Farisiya / 'Ein a-sakut
A community of shepherds in the Jordan Valley opposite the settlement of "Rotem". Making a living from grazing sheep, the residents are exposed to harassment, abuse and theft from settlers who come to them from outposts and settlements in the area, and their grazing area is shrinking due to settler takeovers, fire zones and declared nature reserves.
Machsom Watch companies participate in shepherd escort activities and provide a 24/7 protective presence, and there is continuous and warm contact with the community.
