Anata, Bir Naballah
Anata, Bir Naballah, Wednesday morning, 7.3.2007Observers: Yehudit E., Navah E. (Reporting) Natanya translatingAnata 6.40100s of children waiting for transport in the bus park. Sometimes they are in danger. Cars of all sorts are loading their workers and the students disappear. The routine of studying. The calls. laughter, conversations, playfulness of the children 30 metres behind the checkpoint bothers no one. It is also part of the routine. No line of cars and there are about 6 in the two lanes which pass quickly without careful checking.Ar-Ram 7.00There is hardly any movement at the checkpoint. The car lane is long, about 60. Because the line is long those coming from the other direction enter the traffic jam. After about 10 minutes we manage to pass. It takes us another 10 minutes to find an open lane which takes us to the wall, on the Palestinian side, and to Qalandiya. Each week the typography of the area changes. Depending on the progress of the war on the new road which joins Ar-Ram the Jerusalem to Neveh Yaakov and the wall is closing in on all sides.8.30 – Bir Naballah We passed Qalandiya and tried to find the way to Bir Naballah. We used the information we had learned the previous week and with the help of passers by managed to do so, easily arriving at Rafat which stands at the enormous circle which is in front of the bridge under road 443.A curious reserve soldier asked about us and our organization and asked for the address of the website. In conversation with him he said that though he had undertaken his role because of a strong feeling of duty and is in no way on the left he feels uncomfortable at what is happening at his checkpoint. We went on south of the enclave El Jib and Bir Naballah and arrived at the checkpoint at the entrance to Jerusalem which is on the road Givon-Ramot. In the future the Palestinian tunnel will pass under this road and this will bring about an absolute division between Israeli and Palestinian cars.
