Beit Omar, DCO Etzion, El Khadr Tues. 26.07.05 p.m.Observers: Julia W., Rahel W. (reporting)We left for Beit Omar at 2:30. The roads were quite empty and there were no unusual events on our way there. After Beit Omar, we went to the DCO [District Coordination Office of the IDF Civil Administration, that issues passage permits, etc.] in Etzion. At first it appeared that there was no one serving the people, but then two windows were opened. One couple was trying to get a permit to go to Jerusalem to visit a relative undergoing surgery in Hadassah (permit granted after about 40 minutes); a tour agent was trying to get his permit extended (also positive results after about a half hour). The place seemed a bit less filthy than it was last time we were here over a year ago. Fewer cigarette butts; the fans were working; and the water fountain was operative. The people complained about the ongoing closure since the suicide attack in Netanya over a month ago. There were dozens of vehicles at El Khadr. No presence of Border Police or military.
