The attacker did not show up but the blue police did. On the road heading down from the checkpoint they open a checkpoint, and they stopped Palestinian vehicles to check their papers and performed a physical inspection on the drivers. When we ask with puzzlement about this inspection they explained that it was a routine activity. We had never witnessed such a routine.

The checkpoint heroes. "You've got five minutes to get out of here!- don't test me! –it's already been half a minute! –I am the sovereign here… I make the decisions and you have to obey!..." With these words and the captain's gun aiming at me we had no choice but to leave….

Though this checkpoint was declared as "non existent" the army makes thorough inspections of vehicles including all the men, women and the vehicle' s content. The groups of Palestinians picked up to be inspected are called "flocks" by the soldiers. When they finish checking one flock they turn to the next flock. The picture shows the flock of women and children requested to leave the vehicle to be checked.
