At the encampment of the Daraghma family in Ein Al Hillueh 2 IDF jeeps tugging a water tanker were parking, right in front of their guest tent. We stopped to find out what was happening, and one of the soldiers, after making it clear to us that this is his "Eretz Israel", explained they were emptying their water tank out because the water was no longer fresh. One of the Palestinians said, "I wish I had what he is just pouring out on the ground" This was being done in the Bedouins' yard and no one bothered to ask their permission.

One of the soldiers, at the encampment of the Daraghma family in Ein Al Hilwa turned his back to us and urinated. When he was done, he jumped, shook himself and then lowered his trousers a bit to nicely tuck his shirt in. All of that in the Palestinians' yard, in full view of women and children. Was this an intentional attempt at humiliation? I don't think so. I believe these soldiers simply do not regard the Palestinians as human beings, around whom one should be modest.

Four Palestinians were waiting for the Shabak (JSS) for hours. One of them had forgotten his ID at home, and the three others weren’t told why they had been detained. We contacted various offices to find out what was going on and speed their release. After an hour and a half they were released. And we wonder: What would those men have done had we not happened to stop there.

A Palestinian from one of the villages, farms and markets hot peppers but since there’s not enough of a market for their peppers on the West Bank, they tried their luck here in the Jiftlik. He lives west of the road but tried nevertheless to cross the earth mound erected by the IDF. He was caught by a security patrol of the Beqa’ot settlement, which summoned the army.

Al Malih (route 5799) - a long line of waiting cars. At the roadside a kind of temporary camp is seen, dozens of tractors' platforms loaded with blankets, pots, clothes, etc. All the inhabitants of the village which received an order yesterday to leave their homes between 4 PM until 2:30 PM the next day. Thousands were forced to spend the freezing night out in the open (it gets extremely cold at night in this Jordan Valley area, as it does in desert climate), sleeping on platforms or the backs of trucks when all that protects them from the night cold is a miserable nylon sheet.

Soldiers at the checkpoint, pointing their weapons at those who arrive, stopping every Palestinian vehicle. A settler shows up gives them two bags of potato chips. Tells them “You’re doing a great job.” And says to us “Don’t you have anything better to do?”
